Coach has just launched its Winter 2023 collection, and it’s nothing short of a cultural remix. Stuart Vevers, the creative mastermind behind Coach, continues to redefine American heritage, this time with a nod to the vibrant energy of youth counterculture. The highlight? “The Lil Nas X Drop” – a special edit where Coach’s designs meet the wildly expressive style of artist and Coach ambassador, Lil Nas X.

Canvas of self-expression
Imagine the classic Coach aesthetic, but with an audacious twist. This season’s collection is all about turning heritage pieces into canvases of self-expression. Winter 2023 is a playful blend of iconic leatherwear infused with underground party vibes. Think classic American leather biker and shearling jackets, but with a youthful twist – acid graphics, electric colours reminiscent of rave culture, and a throwback to Bonnie Cashin’s leopard print, all reimagined for the modern era.

The creation of this collection has been a collaborative journey with Lil Nas X. His unique style and colour sensibility have been key inspirations. Vevers worked closely with him to select and personalize pieces like shearling coats in popping colours, concert merch-like graphics, and an American varsity jacket decked out with patches.
Vevers shares, “our Winter collection is inspired by my belief that fashion is about exploring and celebrating all of who you are.” He adds, “to create the collection, we twisted the Coach archives and were also inspired by Lil Nas X’s connection to music and nightlife. We evolved heritage styles introduced on the runway last season by amplifying colour, texture and graphics to create pieces that celebrate our love for individuality and authentic self-expression that we share.”
Sustainability
Coach’s commitment to sustainability shines through in this collection. They’ve spotlighted repurposed and upcycled processes and materials, including tees and sweatshirts made from pre-consumer materials, and a unique Coach (Re)Loved boot crafted from repurposed Coach bags. Leathergoods get a fresh look too, with archival styles like the Harley and Avery shoulder bags in sequins, burnished leather, and leopard print, all injected with bold colors that mirror Lil Nas X’s dynamic persona.

To launch this eclectic mix, Coach opted for a lookbook with a twist – mirror selfies taken by members of its Coach Family at the Park Avenue Armory. This approach aligns perfectly with Vevers’ vision of heritage as a foundation for personal expression, showcasing how the collection is uniquely interpreted and worn by each individual.
