From 2020-2022, one could easily say those years belonged to the gamers and of course, the industry behind them. Free to play gaming such as Fortnite and Warzone competed for eyeballs and with lockdowns in effect, there wasn’t much in the way of competition.

Collabs
Several major brands have partnered up with gaming companies in various ways to provide a unique and exclusive offering. Xbox and Gucci partnered up to produce the Xbox x Gucci series console which at the time of writing is selling for $20,000 on StockX. For the Halo enthusiasts, Halo x Saworovski features a Swarovski encrusted Master Chief’s Mjlnir helmet. If that isn’t cool enough, it comes with a Halo Energy Sword to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the legendary game. The Microsoft Xbox mini-fridge sold out at retail in minutes before becoming the #1 traded item in the collectibles category.
Gaming 2022
As the crypto world further evolves and really takes a hold in 2022, you can expect to see many more of these types of collabs. Whether in the form of physical collabs or NFTs, only time will tell. “In the last three years gaming has become part of the core passion in society” notes Tom Woodger. “All these brands are seeing the value in being part of where all these consumers are living in the digital universe”.
So where does a marketplace like StockX fit into this? “We facilitate access to culture products, whether it’s a PS5 or Jordans. StockX sits in that nice convergence of all these things between the digital and the real world”.
