Comfort
Each ear is built different and the buds come with 3 different sizes tips so you can customize to your preference. You can even try the eartip seal check in the Pixel Buds App. A quick 20-second evaluation and you’ll know if you got the perfect pair.
Active Noise Cancellation
Pixel Buds Pro feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and are built with a custom 6-core audio chip. When you put these buds on, outside of hearing your voice in your head, they are highly effective at cancelling out surrounding noise. This is ideal for that focused work session. In fact, I’m doing just that as I write this. Transparency mode does allow for ambient noises to filter in if you want to hear your surroundings.
Gestures
Functionality is key and that’s what you get with the Pixel Buds Pro. With simple tap features you can:
- Tap to play/pause media, answer calls
- Double tap to skip track, end/reject call, stop the Assistant
- Triple tap to rewind/go to previous track
- Swipe back or forth to decrease or increase volume
- Long press an earbud to toggle between ANC and Transparency mode. This gesture can also be customized in the Pixel Buds app to activate Google Assistant.
Battery
The Pixel Buds Pro will last up to 11 hours with ANC off and up to 7 hours of listening time with ANC on. Charging features include wired and wireless. Wired for when you need to boost the battery of your case and of course wireless for your buds inside. What’s more, a 5 minute charge in the case can give you up to an hour’s worth of listening time with ACN on. That’s a quick charge.
Ok Google
The buds come with an ensuite of utility for google assistance. One feature is called Conversation Mode where you can tell the Google Assistant to help you interpret a language. Of course it can also be used for many other features like sending a text or starting your workout music.
Verdict
The buds come as advertised. The noise cancelling feature is spot on and great for those focused sessions. The device and case itself feel sturdier than some of the competitor products out there so durability doesn’t seem to be a concern. They price at $259.99 CAD which is generally in line with what you’d expect for these types of products. Even Apple users can use these and still find value in them. Gent’s Approved.
