Welcome to Episode 40 of the Gent’s Talk podcast, where we sat down with media mogul Brandon Gonez. The news reporter turned CEO discussed protecting his energy, and how the media shapes our perspective in a divisive society.
Manifestation
As a firm supporter of the power of manifestation, Brandon believes that we must speak what we want into existence. Something unique happens once we start to say things out loud; we begin to paint a picture of what it looks like. As this picture forms in our minds, Brandon suggests we ask ourselves, “Do I paint the picture or leave it as a dream?” He referenced Leonardo da Vinci and asked where we would be if he didn’t paint the Mona Lisa and kept it as just a dream. As a creative, he urges all creators to continue to create. If you’re struggling, remember that your dream can be the next big thing. All you have to do is paint it.
Gonez Media
As host of one of Canada’s top online news & entertainment shows, The Brandon Gonez Show and Gonez Media aim to deliver content how people want it consumed. Gone are the days of the traditional newspaper, and Brandon plans to revitalize Canadian media with journalistic integrity. According to Gonez, a significant problem in this social media-driven world is that “we don’t listen.” Everyone is yelling into an echo chamber, and no one is listening to each other anymore. He let us kniw that what viewers often don’t see is all the extra work it takes behind the scenes to deliver an accurate, unbiased story. Brandon explained that “access requires visibility.” The difficulty arises because many outlets do not have the luxury of obtaining such access. He pleads that we consider this when criticizing those going against the status quo.
Listen as the public figure discusses why he prefers to keep his private life personal and his circle small. The energy we have and associate ourselves with is vital. “You have to be cognizant of who you’re sharing your innermost thoughts, dreams, ambitions and failures with,” Brandon stated, “and you have to be okay with the fact that not everyone will have a positive outlook for your life.” He said we must confide in those we believe in, and keep those who want us to win close.

Protect Your Energy
When put in a situation where he’s confronted with negative energy, Brandon does whatever he can to protect his energy. A tip he left us with is a focus on breathwork. He maneuvers through these situations by not reacting to the negative energy. Gonez mentioned that taking a deep breath, and not giving people the desired reaction stops them from having power over us. He practices taking personal feelings out, then assessing the situation.
Please tune into Episode 40 for the entire conversation with Brandon Gonez. He also discussed the need for a more compassionate society: “Asking the right questions can de-armour someone in a situation and get to the root cause.” Hence the power of honourable media.
