Maserati MSG Racing, after embracing a historic new era for the Trident in 2023, continues its journey in the FIA Formula E World Championship. They’ve just unveiled their Season 10 challenger, the Maserati Tipo Folgore. The reveal took place on the eve of pre-season testing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. The Maserati Tipo Folgore features the same proven race-winning technology from Season 9 but with a striking new aesthetic. This design represents Maserati’s distinguished heritage in motorsport and its innovative journey into electrification.

Maserati Tipo Folgore
The Maserati Tipo Folgore, a name that pays homage to Maserati’s all-electric vehicle range, seamlessly bridges the gap between Maserati’s storied past and its future in motorsport. The car showcases a new aesthetic while retaining the proven race-winning technology from Season 9, highlighting Maserati’s commitment to innovative electrification and its rich motorsport heritage.
One striking feature of the Tipo Folgore is the Rame Folgore (Copper Glance) color accents on the rear. This color signifies Maserati’s new generation of electric vehicles, which will make up the entire product lineup by 2030. It’s a symbol of the brand’s forward-thinking approach and dedication to innovation.
Maserati’s return to single-seater World Championship racing in Formula E’s ninth season marked a historic moment, as the Trident brand hadn’t participated in single-seater racing since its Formula One days 66 years ago. The season included memorable achievements, with two pole positions, four podium finishes, and a momentous victory in Jakarta – Maserati’s first single-seater race win since the 1957 German Grand Prix.
The livery of the Tipo Folgore for Season 10 is dominated by the iconic Maserati blue, reinforcing the team’s determination. It integrates contemporary copper accents, a nod to the color of Folgore, representing the future.
Power
Equipped with Formula E’s state-of-the-art Gen3 package, the Tipo Folgore sets new standards for electric vehicle performance. With a power output of 350kW, it can reach speeds exceeding 200mph and utilizes 600kW regenerative braking capabilities. This regen capability ensures that 40% of the energy consumed during races comes from regenerative braking – a significant step toward sustainability and efficiency.
The collaboration between Formula E and Maserati MSG Racing extends beyond the racetrack. The development of race-to-road technologies will play a pivotal role in Maserati’s electrification journey, with innovations from the track making their way into the brand’s road vehicles. Formula E’s 10th season is its most extensive yet, with 17 rounds, including a new race in Tokyo, Japan. The season kicks off on January 13, 2024, in Mexico City following the pre-season testing.
