Last weekend (September 17-18, 2022) was the return of Sneaker Con Toronto, and sneakerheads had the chance to show off their favourite kicks!
The event was packed with 400+ vendors buying, selling & trading shoes. With this being the first in three years, the eBay Canada-sponsored event was dubbed the “Greatest Sneaker Show on Earth.”

This long-awaited conference was a reminder of what has been missing. The collective gaieties of admiration were abundant as the sneaker community filled the Enercare Centre. The pandemic forced us to ditch the dress shoes for a more casual look. Thus, a massive increase in hard-to-find and unique sneakers erupted. On top of that, the slow surge of wanting only part-time in-office work days has many leaning far more towards the casual side of the “business casual” look when in the office; suits with a crisp, fresh pair of kicks.

We got to speak with eBay Canada’s Head of Sneakers shortly before Sneaker Con Toronto. Shireen Edross is a sneaker enthusiast who has been in the business for over 20 years. As a Jordan VII lover, the nostalgia of the Jordan brand is why Jordan’s top her list of favourite kicks. Her massive collection of shoes consists mainly of high tops. When asked are high tops better than low tops, she stated, “For me, it’s high tops! But it’s a matter of preference. Sometimes, it depends on the fit! Some outfits look better in highs, some low, some mid”
DID YOU KNOW: Canadian sneakerheads purchase, on average, one pair of sneakers every four minutes!
If the trendy look of sneakers in the boardrooms across Canada is a sign of future spending habits, the sneaker world looks very bright!
