'Tis The Season for Shorts

Gentlemen, hot boy summer is right around the corner. But before we start, let’s have a moment of silence for summertime since it feels like we haven’t had a real one for years. It’s been a long and exhausting winter, but we made it and it’s now the season for shorts!

This time last year, all activities were cancelled, rescheduled, or reduced in capacity size. Decisions outside of our control stopped us from feeling anything remotely close to normal. With the promises of an event-filled summer, it’s time to take in a disrespectful amount of vitamin D! This year…we outside! We have to be.

So here is your quarterly reminder that this summer will be different! We have been inside for way too long to not enjoy every upcoming second. The only real question left is, what to wear.

Save the Shorts for the Courts

Real men never skip leg day, and we are going to showoff all those off-season glute, hamstring, and quad gains. For starters, unless you’re hooping, ditch the ball shorts.

It’s fun dropping buckets on the court, but when it’s time to walk around town on a Saturday afternoon, we are going to have to leave the basketball shorts at home. Shorts have been a tricky statement piece when it comes to fashion, but when appropriately worn, they can have profound effects. It’s time to free the thighs!

Summertime is too hot for pants, so shorts really are our best option here. You can pair shorts with a simple t-shirt, or class it up a bit with a casual button up shirt. Get creative, throw some flair and colour in the mix! You’ll look good, and your body will thank you for allowing it to breathe.

Length Matters.

In terms of length, when dealing with purchasing shorts the inseam is where to focus your attention. The inseam on a pair of shorts is the length of the seam between the bottom of the crotch and the bottom of the shorts. If you’re used to wearing shorts at or below the knees, start yourself off with a 7″ inseam until you get comfortable. Obviously, height plays a major factor, but a 5″ inseam is where the real confidence starts to show. A good rule of thumb is to have the bottom of your shorts rest at least one to three inches above your knee.

This is the hot boy summer to just have some fun. Now is the perfect time to embrace a new look in time for shorts season. If the boys want to crack a joke about the length of the shorts, pay them no mind. It takes a lot of confidence to have your thighs glistening in the summer sunshine. Besides, rumour has it the ladies like a nice 5″ ..inseam.
