Ever stop and think to yourself, “I hate my job”. Or the usual, “I can’t stand my boss”. Even better – “They don’t pay me what I’m worth”. If these are the thoughts you are having on a daily basis, you might be stuck in a negative, defensive mindset. A mindset like that keeps you stuck and blocked from progress and the things you truly want. That’s why it’s more important now than ever to change that mindset and make this year count.
Perspective
Changing the point of view that you hate your job to one that this is temporary is a stepping stone to your next opportunity. It allows you to approach it with joy and passion instead of resentment and disdain. We should always keep in mind that whether it feels like it or not, WE are in control of not what happens to us but our perception of it. A change in how we think and speak about things in our lives changes how we see and experience them. Moving away from a place of dread to one of hunger for new experiences allows you to be more open to the possibility that lies in every situation.
Approach
In our day to day lives we form opinions about people and circumstances, which we then translate to feelings which we then assign as facts. We decide that because someone does or says something we wouldn’t, that we don’t like them, or worse, that they must be against us. We form this bias not usually based on fact but again on our point of view. If we started to relax that trigger and counter it by adding the fact that we know very little about the person and their motivation, it might make things less personal and allow for a more neutral approach to the situation. We have the power to change how that situation continues, thus making it a more pleasant experience not just for us but for those involved.

Habits
Having a good day, week, month or year, doesn’t just happen. It requires active work from you; it’s about changing how we download and react to experiences. It’s not easy, but the pay-off holds so much more rewards than allowing negative circumstances to take control. Whatever your current situation, there is always something to be grateful for. Use that thing as your catalyst to affect change in all the areas that are not ideal. Again, remember, every situation is temporary and you have the power to change it with time. Keep that fact as a focus and step into a more positive mindset to bring more desirable results.
