Welcome to Episode 15 of the Gent’s Talk Podcast! This week we sat down with model/actor Nick Bateman. Having called Los Angeles home over the last half-decade, Burlington-born Nick is excited to be back home. We got right into studying karate and how it gave him the backbone, discipline and structure he has carried with him his entire life.

Moving to Hollywood
Nick moved to L.A. to pursue a career in acting. He attributes “not having a plan b” as the motivation for such a scary but necessary move. After hearing, “you gotta change your thermostat if you wanna change and grow,” it reverberated with him. Nick realized that he was not in the place he needed to be to achieve the goals he wanted for himself, so he and his then-girlfriend (now wife) packed up and drove to L.A. despite what people had to say. He adjusted his thermostat, and things started to change.
Nick also touched on the difficulties associated with auditioning and dealing with consistent NOs.
Nick Bateman, Behind The Camera
The soft-spoken father of two hit on the importance of having someone (in his case, his mother) believe in you, especially at a young age. Being always taught to follow his dreams is something that he’s never taken for granted. When dealing with difficult situations, Nick has an intriguing way of navigating through them.
Nick is embracing fatherhood, and loves every minute of it, even the messy parts! Tune into Episode 15 to hear some of Nick’s tricks to networking in Hollywood and his thoughts on if Canadians need to move to the U.S. to make it in the business.
