Specs
Built with the consumer in mind, the Pixel 6a boasts the Google Tensor Chip with the security you get with Titan M2. The battery will give you 24 hours worth of usage before a recharge is needed. The device features a dual rear camera, a 60 Hz display refresh rate and an under-display fingerprint sensor system. The 6a comes in at 6.1″ which is smaller than the Pixel 6 (6.4″)or the 6 Pro (6.7″) but don’t be fooled, it’s a sizeable phone. It carries 6gb of Ram and 128GB of storage. By contrast the 6 and 6 Pro can carry up to 256 GB of storage.

Camera
The main event most people want to know about. Firstly, from my own testing, comparing the Pixel 6a next to my current iPhone model, the camera stands out immediately. The focus on the object and the true to tone is spot on. What’s more, for the editor in you, magic eraser is a thing where you can simply erase any objects or people from making that photo perfect. Videos are processed in 4K giving you the rich vibrant colours you see in pro-type content.
Verdict
The set up was seamless. It’s also a nice feature transferring your stuff from your old phone is a quick process. The interface is nice, clean and customizable. Furthermore, Google announced that every few months your Pixel 6a will get new feature drops. They come via software updates and they could be integrated apps, wallpapers and more.
At the price point of $599 CAD, it’s an affordable phone and is more than capable of handling the average consumer’s needs. Whether that’s social media, work or even basic-intermediate level editing. So if you’re a student on a budget or a professional looking for something capable, the Pixel 6a is a viable option. The verdict? Gent’s Approved.
