In a society dominated by an over-worked and burnt out workforce, getting a restful eight hours of sleep is getting progressively more difficult. Tack on the fact that it’s been proven that people who work from home are now working longer hours, it’s not a pretty picture. So the focus of a lot of mental health discussions is centered around an important human need – sleep. At Gent’s Post we had the opportunity to test out a solution to help in that department – the Hush Iced 2.0.

The Specs
The Iced 2.0’s duvet cover comes in grey or white and you have the option of a 15lb or 20lb. Regardless of your bed size, you can get it for Twin, Teen, Queen, or King. The blanket currently retails at $359.00. It is ideal for those who find themselves with a heat problem. The blanket “embraces your skin and as soon as you begin to sweat, it pulls the moisture away”.
The Science
Deep touch pressure stimulation is a popular method for improving sleep. It has been around for some time particularly in therapeutic services. Weighted blankets were originally designed to help people with sleep anxiety, ADHD, OCD, sensory processing disorder, anxiety, stress and insomnia. According to Hush, “studies have shown that when using a weighted blanket people fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer and experience the kind of sleep quality that helps them wake up feeling rested and refreshed”. The Benefits
If you find yourself struggling to fall asleep, and more importantly, stay asleep, this blanket comes as advertised. The weight of the blanket can seem daunting at first and it is admittedly noticeable. However the ‘weighted’ feeling does go away after a few nights. That soon turns into what can be described as ‘sleeping in a cocoon’. The cool temperature is a nice feature to have especially if you find yourself to be a ‘hot’ sleeper.
