Nobu Hospitality, the globally acclaimed hotel and restaurant group founded by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro, and Meir Teper, is set to make its Canadian debut with the opening of Nobu Toronto in early August 2024. This much-anticipated launch will feature a two-level restaurant and bar, ideally located just a block away from the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Light Box in the Entertainment District. Nobu celebrates newest addition to the family…
Celebrating three decades of excellence in the hospitality sector this September, Nobu Toronto is the latest addition to the prestigious global network of Nobu restaurants, marking its first foray into Canada. Situated at 25 Mercer Street, the new location will offer Chef Nobu’s celebrated New-Style Japanese cuisine, inspired by his travels through South America.

Diners can look forward to signature dishes like Black Cod Miso, Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, and Rock Shrimp Tempura, complemented by innovative cocktails such as the Lychee Martini and Oni Negroni. Executive Chef Alex Tzatzos will also introduce new dishes paying homage to Toronto’s diverse culinary scene. The restaurant and bar will open in advance of the Nobu Hotel Toronto, which is slated to launch in spring 2025.
Nobu Toronto: Luxury meets culture
Designed by Toronto-based Studio Munge, the interior of Nobu Toronto will feature a blend of Japanese aesthetics and Canadian craftsmanship. The dramatic two-level design aims to set a new benchmark for restaurant interiors in Canada, creating an immersive environment where luxury and culture merge seamlessly. Spanning 10,000 square feet, Nobu Toronto will offer 278 seats across various areas:
- Bar and Lounge (Ground Level): Guests will be welcomed into an intimate bar and lounge with 57 seats, highlighted by a stunning 28-foot bronze chainmail Lasvit chandelier and handcrafted Japanese roof tiles adorning the pillars.
- Restaurant Bar & Outdoor Terrace (Mezzanine Level): The mezzanine will feature a 20-seat sake bar and an outdoor terrace inspired by urban Japanese gardens, with design elements reflecting the iconic “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.”
- Restaurant (Second Level): The second level will house a 140-seat main dining room with a private tasting room, surrounded by circular banquettes and intricate Japanese joinery details.
- Sushi Bar (Second Level): An 11-seat sushi bar will allow guests to interact with the sushi chefs and observe their craftsmanship.
- Private Dining Room (Second Level): A secluded 20-seat private dining room will offer a gallery view over the ground level bar, enclosed by bronze-tinted glass panels.
