Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only altered in form – the first law of thermodynamics. In layman’s terms, on the days when we’re feeling our lowest, we need to remember that good energy lives in us at all times. We need not stress having to construct it out of nowhere, and we must never forget no one can steal our energy! We have to find said energy inside, even when it doesn’t seem readily available. The ability to help transfer that energy out to our brothers when they need it is crucial. We need to be able to harness that energy for ourselves as well.

Being able to transfer positive energy is an underrated superpower. Sometimes, just asking “How can I help?” is enough to let someone who isn’t feeling the most significant know that they are not alone. That is of utmost importance because as modern-day gentlemen, we know that there are far greater fears than feeling alone. Let’s take a quick second to think about the last time you felt utterly alone in a room full of people… now, hold that feeling for a second.
Identify Imbalances
We have to keep it front of mind that these feelings are normal and no matter what we do, we will still have bad days. One of the most realistic goals to strive for is just to have more good days than bad. The hardest part about bad days is the loss of reasoning; we forget about that energizing power we give off that initially attracted people to us. Keeping track of our mood and what triggers negative changes is crucial. The quicker we can acknowledge that our mindset is changing, the faster we can identify what caused such a shift. If we continue to push things to the side, we will struggle to locate our trauma triggers.
Bring That Energy Back
Journaling is an excellent method to get negative thoughts out and realign energy levels. Getting comfortable with having difficult conversations is also a great energy transferring technique. When feeling less than 100%, communicating what’s bothering us to our brothers, tribe, and/or team can help shift any mood into a more positive one. But most importantly, being able to communicate this to ourselves honestly is a high priority. We need to open up to get that passive energy out and let that positive energy have a place to thrive! If no one is available, seek help professionally. There is no shame in the professional help game.
Speaking of, seeking out a therapist, counselor, psychologist or psychiatrist is an accomplishment that should be celebrated. It’s one of the manliest things we can do. Gentlemen, we should not be looking down upon this because we all need help. Someone brave enough to admit that they need help will end up being the real hero in their story.
