This summer, Canada will take centre stage on the global soccer scene. For the first time ever, the country will host matches as part of the FIFA World Cup 2026, marking a historic moment for Canadian sport and culture. Now, Lay’s is giving fans the chance to become part of that history through its new “Fan of the Match” program. In a first for the tournament, Lay’s is recognizing the people who bring the energy to every game — the fans themselves.

FIFA World Cup experience
Traditionally, players on the pitch receive awards for their performances, but Lay’s believes the passion of supporters deserves recognition as well. The Fan of the Match program aims to celebrate that spirit by giving seven Canadian fans the opportunity to experience the World Cup in a way few ever will.

Each of the seven winners will receive two premium tickets to a FIFA World Cup 2026 match taking place in either Toronto or Vancouver this June or July. But the experience doesn’t stop there. Winners will also receive flights and accommodations, along with exclusive pitch-side access at the end of the match.
To mark the moment, each fan will also receive a custom Lay’s Fan of the Match trophy — a keepsake designed to commemorate their place in World Cup history. Perhaps the most unforgettable part of the experience will come during the match itself. Selected winners will see themselves featured on the stadium jumbotron at halftime, giving fans their own spotlight inside some of the biggest sporting venues in the country.
It’s the kind of experience most soccer supporters only dream about — and it arrives at a time when excitement around the sport in Canada has never been higher. Beyond the prizes, the initiative reflects the growing cultural significance of soccer in Canada. With the World Cup set to draw global attention to cities like Toronto and Vancouver, the Fan of the Match program highlights the role fans play in creating the atmosphere that makes the tournament so special.
