This week, we had the pleasure of hosting actor Shaun Sipos on our podcast, Gent’s Talk, presented by BULOVA Canada, for episode 80. Known for his roles in hit TV shows like “The Vampire Diaries” and “Krypton,” Shaun opened up about his personal journey, his new projects, and recent milestones in his life. His candid conversation offered insights into his struggles, triumphs, and the importance of gratitude and perseverance.
Episode 80 of the Gent’s Talk podcast with Shaun Sipos:
From Homelessness to Hollywood
Shaun Sipos’ journey to success was far from easy. He revealed that he had been homeless three times in his life, each instance shaping his character and resolve. “The third time was really the difficult one,” Shaun recounted. “I was older… it’s easier when you’re younger to be homeless because no one’s expecting you to have all your shit together at 20 or 21 years old.” Despite these hardships, Shaun’s determination never wavered.
He shared how these experiences taught him resilience and humility. “When you don’t have money, it forges in you a work ethic where you go, ‘Okay, well, I have to buckle down and figure this out.’” Shaun’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of maintaining hope, even in the face of daunting challenges.
Finding Love and New Beginnings
In addition to his professional achievements, Shaun recently celebrated a significant personal milestone: his marriage. Reflecting on his wedding day, he described it as “probably the best day of my life to this point.” He shared a humorous and heartwarming story of how he met his wife, emphasizing the importance of persistence and common interests. “We did a Muay Thai class together,” he recalled. “It took a few tries to get her to agree to dinner, but it worked out well in the end.”
Shaun’s description of his wedding was filled with joy and gratitude. “You’re surrounded by everyone that loves you, and that you love them, and everyone’s there to celebrate you guys. It’s pretty amazing. It’s a great moment, a fantastic moment,” he said. His story of finding love serves as a reminder that patience and perseverance can lead to beautiful outcomes.
The Power of Muay Thai
Throughout the conversation, Shaun spoke passionately about the benefits of Muay Thai, both physically and mentally. “It teaches you how to handle yourself physically and emotionally,” he explained. “If you’re in there sparring and you get emotional, you’re going to get your ass kicked. You learn pretty quickly to handle your emotions.”
Shaun highlighted the importance of having a physical outlet for stress and emotional regulation. “Muay Thai centers you, keeps you calm, especially in situations of conflict. I think being calm is a huge benefit.” His dedication to the sport is not only about physical fitness but also about building mental resilience and maintaining emotional balance.
Exciting New Projects
Shaun also shared his excitement about his new show, the second season of “Reacher” on Amazon Prime. The series has garnered significant attention, and Shaun’s role promises to be thrilling and action-packed. “There are some really great fight scenes,” he said. “The stunt guys did such a great job. They really don’t get enough credit.”
He described the show’s premise, which involves his character being targeted along with other members of his military unit. “People are knocking off the members of the 110th, so we set about trying to find out who’s doing this. It’s really in the vein of the first season, with a lot of action and justice.”
A Message of Gratitude
Shaun’s journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of gratitude and perseverance. Despite facing significant hardships, he remains thankful for the opportunities and support he has received. “Being grateful for what you have sometimes can be very hard to do,” he noted. “But it’s important to appreciate what you currently have and to be grateful for the journey.”
