In the glittering heart of Toronto, the world’s most talented bartenders gathered for the 2025 Diageo World Class Global Finals, but it was Norway’s Felice Capasso who stole the spotlight — and the title of World Class Global Bartender of the Year. Representing Oslo’s Nedre Løkka Cocktailbar and founder of the Sesto Senso Academy, Capasso’s triumph marked a defining moment in his journey through the art of modern mixology.

A number’s game
The competition, now in its 16th year, brought together 51 bartenders from across six continents. Each challenge pushed creativity to new limits, blending artistry, flavour, and storytelling. Capasso’s standout performances included reimagining gin classics with a Johnnie Walker Black Label twist and creating a tequila-inspired aperitif paired with an original AI artwork.

“If you want something and you work for it, and never, ever give up no matter what—you can achieve it,” Capasso shared. “I am taking on a responsibility whih I plan to take seriously, promoting education in spirits and inspiring other bartenders who want to progress in the industry.” Judged by an elite panel including Monica Berg of London’s Tayēr + Elementary, Ago Perrone of The Connaught Bar, and Eric Van Beek of Handshake Speakeasy, the competition celebrated innovation, precision, and the soul of hospitality.
Kevin Delaney, Global Head of World Class, described the competition as “the ultimate toast to the people who are the beating hear of the hospitality industry.” Since its inception, the program has elevated over 450,000 bartenders worldwide, shaping cocktail culture and nurturing future leaders of the craft.

With his victory, Capasso earns a year-long mentorship with industry icons, global travel opportunities, and guest appearances at top venues around the world.
