The Toronto International Film Festival is preparing to celebrate another remarkable group of actors and filmmakers, announcing the final recipients of the 2026 TIFF Tribute Awards. Fan Bingbing, Helen Mirren, Adam Pietkiewicz, Seth Rogen and Bassam Tariq complete this year’s lineup of honourees, joining previously announced recipients Penélope Cruz, Lee Chang-dong, Rosalind Eleazar, Siân Heder and Isabelle Huppert. The eighth annual TIFF Tribute Awards gala will take place September 13 at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York Hotel, bringing together established icons and emerging creative voices from around the world.

Groundbreaking talent
Among this year’s most recognizable recipients is Helen Mirren, who will receive the TIFF Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award. With an extraordinary career spanning more than five decades across film, television and theatre, Mirren has established herself as one of the industry’s most respected performers. Her appearance at TIFF 2026 coincides with the world premiere of A Talent for Murder, in which she portrays acclaimed novelist Patricia Highsmith.

Canadian actor, writer, producer and director Seth Rogen will receive the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award. Rogen’s evolution from comedic actor to multifaceted filmmaker has made him one of Canada’s most successful entertainment exports. From films including Superbad and Pineapple Express to the Emmy-winning The Studio, his influence now extends well beyond his performances on screen.
Fan Bingbing will receive a TIFF Special Tribute Award recognizing a career that has crossed Chinese and international cinema. Over three decades, the actor and producer has appeared in projects ranging from I Am Not Madame Bovary to major Hollywood productions including X-Men: Days of Future Past and The 355. She arrives in Toronto with Wayne Wang’s Diary of a Mad Old Man.
TIFF is also using the occasion to celebrate influential talent behind the camera. Polish cinematographer Adam Pietkiewicz will receive the TIFF Variety Artisan Award, while filmmaker Bassam Tariq will receive the TIFF Rising Talent Award as his latest project, Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, prepares for its world premiere.
Together, the 2026 recipients demonstrate the increasingly global nature of TIFF itself. Screen legends share the spotlight with directors, cinematographers and rising filmmakers, allowing the Tribute Awards to recognize not only the careers that have already shaped cinema, but the creative voices poised to influence where it goes next.
