Why it’s been so long since we’ve heard anything from the “Electric” singer was the first topic of discussion. As we discovered that it wasn’t his choice to leave, he also shed some light on how cut-throat the music industry can be. “Gut feeling in the music business is so important” he stated, as he talked about how allowing himself to be influenced by the wrong voices changed the version of Shawn that his fans were used to seeing.
Becoming the Best Version of Shawn
Shawn proudly admitted that he sought help when the therapy topic came up. What shouldn’t be seen as a courageous act, the singer was not afraid to get emotional during this episode. We are thankful that a man with such a vast influence can show the younger generation that crying is okay. A man who lets his kids see him cry, a man who is not embarrassed to show emotion; that’s a man helping to redefine masculinity and what it means to be a man in modern society.
What Advice Would You Give Younger You?
When asked what lessons 2022 Shawn Desman would give to a Young Shawn, he provided us with some fundamental gems:
- “Be careful who you let in your circle.”
- “Do not let people influence your creativity.”
- “Don’t take everything personal.”
A man wearing his emotions on his sleeve, Shawn enforces the narrative of men not only talking about incredible feats that have been accomplished but also discussing the trials and tribulations with raw emotion. Please tune into Episode 19 for our entire conversation with Shawn Desman!
New Single Out: ‘Maniac’
With the release of his new single ‘Maniac,’ Shawn is happy to have a third shot. He plans to give fans everything he’s got, and he intends to let his music speak for itself. It’s all about the love for music, performing, and making people “feel something” with his music once again. He recalled an impactful conversation with October’s Very Own, Drake, after he performed at the OVO music festival – as part of the All Canadian North Stars event – as “the night Drake changed my life.”
